Fall Of Freedom is an urgent call to the arts community to unite in defiance of authoritarian forces sweeping our nation. Our Democracy is under attack. Threats to free expression are rising. Dissent is being criminalized. Institutions and media have been recast as mouthpieces of propaganda.

Last fall, we activated a nationwide wave of creative resistance. Across the country, hundreds of galleries, museums, libraries, comedy clubs, theaters, schools, street corners and concert halls in almost every state hosted exhibitions, performances, and public events that channeled the urgency of this moment. Fall of Freedom's open invitation to artists, creators, and communities to take part showed the depth of talent and shared commitment to stand up to repression — and to celebrate the experiences, cultures, and identities that shape the fabric of our nation. With the momentum that propelled arts makers to stand up to rising fascism last year, 2026 lifted off with Fall Of Freedom MayDay! and we're now building a dramatic expansion of arts activations across the country on October 2nd - 3rd - 4th: take part!
